Q. Is a working visa necessary if I hold a UK or EU passport?
No.
Q. Is a working visa necessary if I hold another passport?
Yes. You must have a valid working visa for the UK. These are ONLY available....
- If you are a Commonwealth citizen under the age of 27, then you can get a 2 year working holiday visa.
- If one of your grandparents was British you can get a four year working visa regardless of age.
- If you are a US or Canadian student under 27 (or have graduated within 6 months) please contact the BUNAC organisation in Connecticut who can arrange a six month's BUNAC visa.
Q. How much time can I work for?
A working visa entitles you to work full time for half of your visa time. Therefore on a two year visa, you can work full time for one year but this can be split into blocks of time to suit your plans.
Q. Do I need hotel experience?
It is helpful but not essential. Personality and a willingness to get on with people is just as important!
Q. How much can I expect to be paid?
This varies from hotel to hotel but the average is £150 per week with board and lodging included in this amount.
Q. What will I need to wear for the work?
Boys need smart black trousers and white shirt together with a good pair of shoes. Girls, a black skirt, white blouse and reasonable shoes. Obviously some hotels will provide a uniform.
Q. Do I have to go for an interview?
Normally this will take place on the phone unless you are at the Backpackers. If all goes well you will be offered a trial week. If things don't work out you can always contact Paul for further vacancies.
Remember to phone Paul when you land in the UK!
